I knew when meeting Katie for the first time that this wedding would be something special. Katie was referred to me by her sister Rhaina, another event photographer in Pittsburgh, and she was super interested in my documentary style of photography. Candids, candids, candids. Count me in!
Here are a handful of my favorite photos from this bride and groom’s beautiful day…
It didn’t rain! That was our biggest worry the morning of their Friday wedding in March, but it held off long enough for this bride and groom to hold their wedding ceremony outside on the patio in front of the gazebo. Pittsburgh weather doesn’t always work in our favor, but that day someone was looking out for us. Despite careful planning, though, the timeline did slip a bit – hair and makeup took a bit longer than planned – so instead of doing a First Look as planned (and finishing up portraits before the ceremony), this bride and groom ended up going the traditional route. Groom Cory saw his beautiful bride for the first time as she walked down the aisle. So that meant my assistant Erica and I got to hang out with this SUPER FUN bridal party even longer while they got ready! Sounds good to me!
After their emotional ceremony, we did formal family portraits at the altar – leaving us less than 5 minutes for bride and groom portraits. But no problem for this affectionate couple- we knocked out some great shots and got them to the party!
Having both wedding ceremony and reception in one location has its pros and cons (I will definitely do a post on this at some point in the future), but for this couple, it was the perfect choice. We walked right over to their ballroom reception, which was decked out in tall elaborate floral arrangements (done BY THE BRIDE!!) with candles scattered between for variety. With the uplighting, the room had a warm, romantic glow. And it was FULL with their wedding guests, ready to PARTY. What a night!
I am so grateful these two invited me into the fold for the day. I had so much fun! I hope you both enjoy your photos as much as I enjoyed making them!
PS Love that dress as much as I do??? Pittsburgh brides should check out The Exquisite Bride in Murrysville, where Katie found it. Groom Cory wore a smart fitted blue suit with a subtle textured pattern, and together they made such a striking pair.
