Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer

Welcome! I am Pamela Anticole, a Pittsburgh wedding photographer with a candid photojournalistic style. I believe beautiful moments live in photographs forever, and it is a PRIVILEGE to be chosen to document yours!

More than anything I want you to have time to enjoy your people: all those friends and family who gather to celebrate with you. Even crazy Uncle Bob! It’s your wedding day, not a day-long portrait session, and I 1000% respect that.

My priority is yours: celebrating the laughter and joy and tears and hugs and all of the in between. I am also looking beyond the obvious, flipping my camera around on your guests. The wedding photos you receive from me are candid, authentic, and natural; often of moments that you may never even realize happened. Ultimately I want to show you the story of your wedding day from your guest’s point of view.

It doesn’t take long to create some beautiful, relaxed wedding portraits together. But the rest of the day shouldn’t be directed by me. Enjoy yourself! I am just there to document it.

Documentary Wedding Photographers

The truth is that I don’t want to get in the way or tell you how to experience your own wedding day. I want to connect with you and your people, to photograph all the joy, and ultimately deliver natural, raw, candid moments that tell your story. The way a photojournalist would!

There is more to your story than just the obvious.

Would you rather spend your wedding day having a drink in your favorite bar with your favorite people, than taking hours and hours of portraits all around Pittsburgh's greatest venues?

Are you more interested in pictures of your cousins having the time of their lives on the dance floor, than you are of your dress hanging on the wall?
elderly woman dressed formally sitting in a chair in a room, with her hands crossed in her lap and a shocked happy expression on her face- looking at a bride standing across the room on her wedding day
Will you treasure your picture of grandma's gasp when she saw you for the first time, more than those photos of your bridesmaids in matching robes?

Unique Wedding Photos ♡

Documentary wedding photography is a unique approach to photographing weddings, that focuses on capturing CANDID moments in a really artistic way.

All Pittsburgh wedding photographers are trained to capture beautiful, classic portraits of couples on their wedding day, but documentary wedding photographers ALSO take it a step further… filling in all the gaps with stirring, creative pictures that together tell a full, emotional story of your wedding day!

This means your wedding photos won’t bring back memories of your wedding photographer telling you where to stand, how to tilt your head, or when your bridesmaids should get dressed. All you’ll remember is all the joy and wonder and love that surrounded you on the first day of your new marriage!

More than anything I want you to have time to enjoy your people: all those friends and family who gather to celebrate with you. Even crazy Uncle Bob! It’s your wedding day, not a day-long portrait session, and I 1000% respect that.

I offer wedding photography in Pittsburgh that is DIFFERENT.

Portfolio of Wedding Photos

These are my favorite UNPOSED, found moments photographed at Pittsburgh weddings through the years. Of course I capture the obvious moments, toasts and first kiss and announcements and all the dances. But some of my FAVORITE moments happen in between all the crazy, in quiet pauses throughout the day. They require a bit of paying attention. And THESE are the moments that make my work unique.

Early on I can tell who is going to be the wild one on the dance floor, or who cries during speeches. I always know where the kids are and which grandma will be squeezing the bride’s cheeks in the receiving line. I pay attention to body language and touch and how people connect with each other. I am a friendly observer of the day! And that is why I am a documentary wedding photographer… because it combines two of my favorite things: making pictures, and people watching.

Is Documentary Style Wedding Photography for you?

Documentary style wedding photography resonates with thoughtful, modern couples who value AUTHENTICITY over perfection.

If you believe your wedding day should be experienced rather than directed, and you trust that genuine moments create more meaningful memories than posed ones, my approach might be perfect for you!

Regardless of what my couples look like or believe or how they celebrate their marriage, the common thread is that THEY VALUE PEOPLE.

Does this sound like you? We should talk. I want to give you wedding photos that hold all the memories! ♡

Client Love

"Where to begin ♥️ I fell in love with Pamela’s work about 12yrs ago. Her style is easy, timeless and authentic. She has an incredible eye and her ability to capture emotion in a snapshot is unmatched. I was sold! We hired her to be our wedding photographer, had an amazing engagement session (...or 2) and were blown away by our wedding photos and stunning album... Pamela is calm, easy to work with, creative, respectful and dedicated to her clients and her work. I am forever grateful our paths crossed and that we have entrusted her with our most precious memories"

Are you picking up what I'm putting down?

Through the years of taking photographs, I have developed a sense for when and how moments that hold stories come together. The picture taking process itself has become second nature, so I am able to focus on observing and anticipating impactful moments. This means I am especially prepared to focus on what makes YOUR story unique.

Maybe you have been a wedding guest waiting for hours for the bridal party to finish their portraits, and you want to avoid giving your own guests that same experience. Maybe you were in a bridal party that spent all day trekking over the city for photos when you just wanted to party with your family at the reception. Maybe you don’t love being photographed and would rather I focus on pictures of your guests.

However you want your day to go, my priority is YOURS. I don’t just want to give you emotional, thoughtful pictures that bring back all the feelings of your wedding day… I also want to ensure that you have the wedding day experience that you want and deserve!

What about Wedding Portraits?

I am happy to spend as much time as you’d like making portraits! Before your wedding day we will talk through your goals and time constraints for the day, together coming up with a plan that is custom tailored for you. I have been a wedding photographer in Pittsburgh for a very long time, which means I have lots of suggestions for locations for you, too.

My goal is to make your photo session fun! As every couple is unique, this may look different for you than it does for another of my couples. Some people want prompts and goofy direction from me, to bring out the smiles and interaction. Other couples do beautiful, natural things on their own when given some space and subtle direction. I figure out pretty quickly which method is right for you… and couples always tell me it’s a lot more fun than they expected it would be!

Why choose Pamela? ♡

1. Your wedding day actually feels like your wedding day

Does your wedding vision include spending hours away from guests while a photographer directs your every move? Probably not.

With my documentary approach, you'll actually experience your wedding day rather than perform it. You'll remember your mom’s laughter during toasts, the kids busting moves on the dance floor, and the way your new partner’s hand felt resting in your lap—not my instructions about how to stand or where to look. It really does feel special to be surrounded by so much love. You should have a chance to enjoy it!

2. Your photographs will stand the test of time.

Wedding trends come and go. What looks editorial and cutting-edge today often appears dated within a decade. But genuine emotion never goes out of style… nor does the clean, true-to-life editing style that I prefer. I’m too focused on the human connection in your pictures, to chase the latest wedding trends! I believe your photos should be timeless, dated only by the style of your dress and hair - not by the filters on your pictures.

3. It's a fundamentally different kind of wedding day experience.

Your brain is a pretty powerful organ, and we all know that strong emotional experiences tend to create more robust and lasting memories. Having hired a documentary wedding photographer, you are free to immerse yourself in the moment. Give yourself a chance to form some powerful memories! Be present. I’ll take care of documenting those stories for you.

Do you appreciate artistic vision but don't want your celebration to feel like a magazine photoshoot?

This is my love story ♥

My partner Mark and I are a team. He is the beer to my wine, the country to my city, the mellow to my adrenaline. Yet somehow we work! Good thing, because we are raising four kids together.

We got engaged in New York City then married at an art gallery right here in Pittsburgh, the weekend after I photographed another wedding downtown. That was almost 15 years ago, and we still pull out our wedding album every year on our anniversary… we just don’t let the kids touch it!
