I first photographed this young family when they were still anticipating the birth of their precious baby, and hoping for a special birth mother to choose them. The pups were a joy to photograph, and I was so honored to help them in their quest to expand their family.
And now that she is here, I am ecstatic for them!! Please enjoy a handful of pictures from Baby H’s first photography session here in Pittsburgh…
Newborn sessions are very relaxed… I photograph baby in his or her own home, so no need to drag baby paraphernalia out into any germ zones. Of course the focus is on the baby, but parents are also involved as well. It’s much more meaningful to see a serene portrait of baby resting in mom’s arms, then trussed up in a basket! All you have to do is snuggle your baby and I handle the rest. This type of relaxed photo session for newborns is called lifestyle newborn photography….
(PS I love this new family portrait- these moms look so incredibly happy <3)
(With the Steelers pride these two have, there’s no doubt they’ll have a fan on their hands LOL.) Really though I love that these parents incorporated a variety of different styles in their outfit choices, including a team jersey, a lace bodysuit, and a beautiful knitted purple wrap. Since they hired me for a full two hour newborn session, we had plenty of time and flexibility to switch up outfits. And lucky for us we budgeted so much time in, because this fiery little girl was not having it at first! Once we figured out she wanted a second bottle, we were good to go. <3
Newborn sessions don’t always last a full two hours, though; we simply budget for that much time, in case baby isn’t cooperative. In this case it really worked out for us. But with other families, I can be in and out in 30 minutes. It really just depends on baby.
I really do understand that parents of a newborn baby are exhausted (I have four kids myself!), and my goal is to get in and out as soon as possible… so that you can maximize your sleep time!
