KELLY and GREG tied the knot!!!
Remember these two from their engagement session in Bellevue and the North Shore of Pittsburgh? This sweet couple has had to reschedule their wedding a couple of times due to the Covid 19 pandemic, so they decided to elope this February in an intimate ceremony at Epiphany Catholic Church in downtown Pittsburgh. (They will be throwing their big bash later this summer in July once the restrictions ease up!) I photographed this small Pittsburgh wedding as part of the fantastic group of documentary wedding photographers Evermark Studios.
I joined the ladies briefly at Hotel Monaco before we headed to the church downtown. It was the COLDEST February day that Pittsburgh has seen in many years…
Their ceremony at Epiphany Church was extra special because the priest has a close relationship with the bride and her family. He even joined us at the ice skating rink after the ceremony, where he teased this beautiful bride about her inattention during the ceremony. ? These two just couldn’t keep their eyes off of each other!
After the ceremony this bride and groom were whisked off in a romantic horse drawn carriage ride from the church to the Rink at PPG Place… or at least it would have been romantic if it wasn’t so darn COLD! Once we set a brisk pace it was tough to ignore the biting wind… still, these two snuggled up and kept big smiles on their faces. After all, they just got married! It was a perfect day!
It was fun to wave at passersby who honked and celebrated! Definitely a creative idea for couples who are planning a unique wedding. Message me for more details if you’re interested!
Once we made it downtown, this bride and groom thanked the horse who gave them a ride before they jumped in line for skate rentals. (If you’re thinking you might want to attempt this, too, remember that during COVID you will have to reserve your rink tickets ahead of time!)
A handful of family members joined this new husband and wife, and brought along some sustenance! ? Most of them got out on the ice, too, in solidarity with the newly married couple. And I JOINED THEM! Yes, this girl strapped on some skates and lugged my camera out on the ice, to capture everyone skating. Anything for the best pictures! ? (Okay, I also really wanted to skate. And I only fell once! Don’t worry, the camera was well protected.)
We got lots of great candid pictures from their little celebration downtown! I’ve included a handful of my favorite photos from Kelly and Greg’s wedding ceremony in the gallery below, and there are a lot more where those came from… feel free to reach out if you’d like to see more, or to chat about your own wedding photography!
