I always encourage my clients to have their engagement photos taken in a location that is meaningful to them… not just because it will help them relax in a comforting environment, but also because I believe it’s important to have a location that represents who they are. After all, these pictures aren’t just for wedding announcements… they will be treasured as these two grow old together- by them AND their kids! It’s just more special to have a picture in front of the place you walked together every Monday, than it is to have a picture in a random city park.
This bride and groom chose BELLEVUE! We started their session in the small walkable town north of the city, then headed downtown for more pictures in the city they love. Kelly and Greg chose to dress in two outfits, one for each location, and it was a great way to represent multiple sides of who they are!
The casual look was in Bellevue, their normal haunts, and they dressed it up a bit for the photos on the bridges downtown.
Once we parked downtown by PNC Park, we got some pictures of them on the iconic yellow bridges… we hit the Roberto Clemente bridge just in time for golden hour, and luckily the sun was shining beautifully. I love the way these two vibe… it’s always easy to photograph people who are so comfortable together and happy to ignore the camera.
Afterward we walked over the bridge toward the point, to grab some sunset pictures in front of the fountain with the city backdrop. Kelly is a dancer and LOVED twirling that dress around- it was so fun to photograph!
And don’t forget to turn around and approach the scene a different way… that water makes for a serene, romantic backdrop for some soft silhouettes.
