to my love

Yesterday was my anniversary. Per tradition, we pulled out our wedding album and remembered the joy of that day together. We were- and are- so blessed! I don’t believe I will ever forget why I love my partner, but it is certainly nice to have a visual reminder now and then. My deepest thanks to Erica and Steve for taking these photos of our wedding day. They are our treasure.

1. He makes me laugh.

The man has a talent, truly. Sure, I fall easily into laughter anyway- but this man can manipulate me into fitfuls of the stuff.

May he always help me to see the joy.

2. He is devoted.

I’ve never photographed an unattractive bride. Women on their wedding day are easy to photograph! Much more challenging to capture is her partner’s devotion to her, beyond his reaction to her hair/makeup/dress. The devotion that is built upon the promise they share to remain connected, to protect each other. I am much more interested in photographing emotions than people.

May we always remain as dedicated to each other.

3. He values his family and friendships.

More importantly, those valued by him are aware of it. His friendships are long-lasting and loyal. Many traveled far just to be at our wedding for him.

May we always give ourselves the space to maintain these friendships.

4. He IS my partner.

We make decisions together, respectfully. We step up in childcare when the other one is having a bad day/week/month. We share household duties. We support each others’ business decisions. As cheesy as it sounds, we walk arm in arm together forward through life.

May we always walk beside each other.
